Annemarie McNamara, is a Multi Award Winning Designer, Cake Maker, Sugar Artist and pastry chef, ( who loves cakes and everything sweet! )
After working as a chef in hotels in Edinburgh and the Borders for many years, in 2002 Annemarie found cake decorating and sugar flowers and fell in love!
And so another journey began in the world of cake making and sugarcraft......................
Returning to Telford College, working with and learning from some very skilled and experienced tutors, taking oodles of classes with many awe-inspiring sugarcraft and sugar flowers experts and sugar artists, such as: Robert, Haynes, Alan Dunn, Margaret Craig, Carlos Lischetti, Dawn Butler, Lindy Smith, Jacqui Kelly, to name but a few, The British Sugarcraft Skills School and many renowned demonstrators through the BSG. experimenting on many willing participants ( really, they were! ) and perfecting ( Yes, she may have some OCD tendencies! ) the art of cakes and sugarcraft to become an industry specialist.
In 2005 Ivory Tower Cakes was born.....
Since starting out, Annemarie has had the pleasure and challenges of designing and creating many bespoke wedding cakes, special occasion cakes and cupcakes. In 2009 Ivory Tower Cakes began supplying Harvey Nichols, Edinburgh and The Chocolate Lounge, as well as other high end establishments, with various products over the years, including Wedding, Special Occasion and Celebration cakes, Afternoon Tea Cakes, Cupcakes, Desserts, Traybakes, Handmade Chocolate Teddies, Scottish Tablet and Fudge. Annemarie has also owned 2 successful coffee and cake shops since 2011, providing excellent breakfast and lunches as well as her cakes and sweet treats.
The student becomes the Teacher...
Annemarie is a British Sugarcraft Guild Accredited Demonstrator and Assessor, Region 1 Secretary for the British Sugarcraft Guild and travels widely, demonstrating and holding workshops at branches, exhibitions and Cake International. She has been demonstrating and teaching her own Sugar Flower classes, Sugarcraft, Baking and Cake Decorating Classes since 2008. She loves to teach, inspire and help you build your skill set and confidence so you can develop your own individual artistic expression, whether as a hobby or to use professionally in your business. Many of her students have gone on to win Awards too.
